Expect some growing pains.The RV180 series is in a weird place in Cisco's lineup --- It's is the newest router line (with a number of hardware upgrades and a new "Nikola" codebase) but is still marketed as less advanced than the RV220 router (which is a much older product). I purchased both an RV180 and RV180W shortly after they were released (early 2012), to replace some aging Linksys & Netgear routers. The RV180 routers have *tons* of features, but are rough around the edges. There's been only one firmware updates (as of July 2012), so there are a few oddities in the UI, missing features, and small bugs. For example, there's an option to enable a "WAN Traffic Meter" and set a traffic limit, but when the limit is reached, there is no option to simply e-mail a warning about the limit --- the only options are to "Block All Traffic" or "Block All Traffic Except E-Mail"... My ISP also gives me an 8-IP subnet so I can host systems on premise with discrete external IPs. With these kinds of speeds my old Linksys WRT54G just couldn't keep up so I started looking for a router which would handle the speed but also operate in router mode so I could use the subnet. (Router mode is different than gateway or NAT mode. Gateway/NAT mode is the default. In router mode the device can actually route to IP addresses behind it, vs. Gateway/NAT mode which masquerades the internal network.) I found the RV180 reviews on smallnetbuilder.com to be very favorable, listing net to net speeds at around 700Mbps. The unit had a router mode and the price point was also good so I pulled the trigger and bought it.After hooking it all up, I noticed the speeds between the internal and external networks in router mode to be only about 25 Mbps.
